IELTS Reading:Types of Articles(Topics) & Passages
What is the difference between IELTS Academic And General Training Reading?
The difference is in the vocabulary. The GT passages are mostly based upon the day to day activities and are more inclined towards the things like some advertisements, newspaper announcements, information about a city, country or may be the recruitment process within a company. Whereas, the passages in the Academic reading are tough as compared to GT.
In both, Academic and General modules there is no limit on the subjects of the articles. Means, the passage may talk about a person, a city, climate, a scientific or a natural process or any experiment. The passages may also contain some diagrams. The only thing to remember here is IELTS just tests your English skills and no technical skills. So, even if some technical passages are there, don't worry. The technical assignments are rather easy to attempt than the normal reading assignments for a simple reason that for technical words in the questions, there are no synonyms.
All the best!
